The program will include a template for creating SOPs for your organization, how to develop the proper writing style, evaluating your audience, key steps to effective implementation, the most important way to create buy in, and how SOPs can prevent a serious Cal/OSHA fine.

Derek is a long-time safety professional with experience in developing risk management and safety programs for a wide range of industries and workplaces. These include, but are not limited to, sewer and sanitation facilities, public drinking water facilities, fire service facilities, vector control districts municipalities, construction, facilities maintenance, public administration and manufacturing facilities. Derek’s first interest in workplace safety began at the age of 12 when his older brother taught him how to properly air split rim tires on the family construction trucks. Derek has formal education in business administration, occupational safety and health, and water treatment. Derek recently retired from Stanislaus County as the Risk and Safety Manager where he and his talented team oversaw the safety and risk functions for 27 departments, 4870 employees and 300 volunteers.
