Roger Duke is a readjustment counseling therapist from a military family. His father was a U.S. Army WWII Combat Veteran. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Army in 1970 and served for three years as a Medical Corps Behavioral Health Specialist. He served in Vietnam from 1971-72. Upon receiving his BA from California State University, Stanislaus in 1976, Roger was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a Ground Combat Officer with 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Forces, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He has served in Command and Staff billets, on and off duty as an active and reserve Marine. Roger renewed his interest in the behavioral sciences while continuing his career in the Marine Corps Reserve. He earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University in 1995. Roger retired from the US Marine Corps Reserves in 1996 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He has worked as a Mental Health Clinician at Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. Since 2005, Roger has been working with returning combat veterans and their family members as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He began his employment with the Department of Veteran Affairs in August 2010 where he is a Readjustment Counseling Therapist at the Modesto Vet Center. Roger is very active in advocating for Veterans of military service to a broad audience.
