Safety As A Result: The Role of the Leader

Event Date:
April 19, 2016 11:45am
Presenter:
Rodney Grieve, BRANTA Worldwide, Inc.

When asked to produce a list of effective leadership behaviors, groups often use descriptors such as clear direction, empowerment, and provides feedback.  When the list is for ineffective behaviors, words like overbearing, micromanagement, and absent often show up.  We have no problem listing the behaviors based on our experiences.  But what is the difference between clear direction and micromanagement?  Between empowerment and absents?  If your front-line leaders treat everyone the same when it comes to safety, if they don’t know the difference between leadership and management, and they don’t know how to effectively communicate, they cannot produce safety results.  This session will explore tools you can use to develop your front-line leaders to help you produce better safety results.

Rodney is the founder of BRANTA Worldwide, co-author of SOAR: A Gate-to-Gate Journey of Leadership Essentials, and author of the best-selling Defend Your Profits: Safety Tools for Bottom Line Improvement.  He has nearly 20 years of industry and consulting experience helping organizations, teams, and individuals create a culture of success.

Since 2000, Rodney has been consulting with clients ranging from high tech to waste management, construction to food packaging, heavy equipment manufacturing to industrial services.  As a result, he has developed the delivery style and content to be effective anywhere in the organizational structure.  Rodney has worked with front-line supervisors all the way to senior executives throughout North America as well as with groups in Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea.

Rodney possesses a Master Degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Sciences Degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  He is a certified facilitator for the Ken Blanchard Companies and formerly a Certified Instructor for the Dale Carnegie Organization.
